Convention 2014 - Awesome Christmas Cards Swap

I love Christmas time and Christmas cards so I always look for a swap like this to help with great ideas!

I saw something similar to this online and realized how easy it would be to use Work of Art to make a wreath!  so I set to work.  Here is the finished product.

First punch out a 1-3/8" circle from some scrap cardstock.

I adhered it to my base with some removable adhesive.

This is the stamp from the Work of Art set I used.  I also used the new Mossy Meadow as by green.  Love it!

I then began repeatedly stamping the image in a ring.  The circle masks the center.

Here is what it looked like when I was done.

Remove the circle and the glue.

I added Rhinestones that I had colored with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities for berries.  They came out great!

I layered it with Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow and added a saying.

I had fun with the bow.  I just looped a piece of 1/8" Silver Ribbon three times back and forth, leaving a long end on each side.  I then tied a small piece around the middle to hold it in place.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Work of Art, More Merry Messages (retiring in August!)
Card Stock - Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler
Ink - Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Accessories - Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities, Basic Rhinestones, 1/8" Silver Ribbon

Six-Sided Wreath

Here is the other cool design that was demonstrated in the Convention Class.  What a GREAT Christmas Card!  The first ring is done exactly like the petals of the sunflower.  The second ring is brought in a little and off set.  I just used a Cherry Cobbler marker to add the holly berries.  The Very Vanilla is mounted to the Cherry Cobbler just like the sunflower card as well.  I sponged the front of the Very Vanilla with Soft Suedy to give to a texture.  Enjoy!

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Six-Sided Sampler, More Merry Messages
Card Stock - Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler
Ink - Gumball Green, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler

Envelope Pocket Card

This card was demonstrated at one of the sessions at Convention.  It was such a great idea I had to make it for myself.

The envelope creates cute pockets for messages and more!

Here I used a glue dot to adhere a gift card to a tag.  That way when they pull the tag the get the surprise of a gift card!

So Awesome Right?  This card uses the Envelope Liner Framelits, let me show you how.

You are going to use the middle liner and Designer Paper of your choice for the small envelope on the front of the card.  Follow the template below to prep the liner.

Once you have done so, your paper will look like this.

I folded down the flap and adhered it with just a little bit of adhesive in the middle.  I didn't completely glue it down so to give the look of a flap that opens.  I then cut a banner, stamped the words I wanted and adhered it to the flap.

The card base I ran through with an Embossing Folder to give it some texture.  It is your choice if you want it to be a full card or just a front.

On the back of your mini envelope, put Dimensionals on three sides, leaving the top open.  This will give you your envelope pocket.  Note:  Make sure to put the Dimensionals all the way to the side or use the edges of the Dimensionals or your Gift Card wont fit.  (This picture, when I put it all together, the g.c. didn't fit and I had to redo it, oops!)

Adhere the envelope to the front of the card.  And then add any tags you want!

Of course you should use the largest Framelit to line your envelope to match!

Here is the same card with different Designer Paper for a birthday card.

Convention 2013 - Scrapbook Page Swap 2

For this group I had December.  Again, I designed this layout in My Digital Studio first and then assembled it from actual cardstock, stamps, and accessories.  It made it so much easier to move things around, change colors, and arrange the layout digitally before doing all the cutting and stamping for real.  For the decorative edges, I scored the paper using the Simply Scored and the Borders Plate, then cut the design out by hand.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Ornamental Keepsakes, More Merry Messages
Card Stock - Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, Polka Dot DS
Ink - Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, StazOn Black
Accessories - Big Shot, Top Note Die, Holiday Ornaments Framelits, 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon, Glue Dots, Brights Glimmer Brads, Paper Piercer, Simply Scored, Simply Scored Borders Plate

Pretty Purple Snowflakes

Have you heard the Christmas song Pretty Purple Snowflakes?  Its one of my favorites!  And I wanted my own purple snowflakes so I set out on a hunt.  When I saw this card, I didn't believe Not Quite Navy and Rich Razzleberry would work together.  I set forth in trying out myself and fell in love.  So, like what I saw, this picture does not do it justice so be sure to try it for yourself!  The one thing I think I would change is to add more Bling!  Is every snowflake too much? :D  Oooo, or maybe use Iridescent ink instead of Baja Breeze!

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Snow Swirled
Card Stock - Not Quite Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Ink - Not Quite Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze
Accessories - Basic Rhinestones

Happy Birthday???

I had a great deal of fun making this card, so much fun that I stopped paying attention to what I was doing and grabbed the Happy Birthday stamp instead of the Christmas stamp!  Oh well, mistakes turned around, I decided this will be my December Birthday card!

The Watercolor Winter set is a great Two-Step Stampin' set.  I love these because it is so quick and beautiful to add layers of ink and look like you spent forever on them!  This set looks like a colored in the poinsettias with colored pencil!  This would also look great using the watercolor crayons too.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Watercolor Winter, Sassy Salutations
Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green
Accessories - Basic Rhinestones

Christmas Gift Card Holder

If you are anything like me, you know you can do better that those gift card sleeves most gift cards come in.  Here is a cute easy Gift Card Holder.  I made a bunch in one sitting so that I can use for any gift card this year.

Cut a strip of Cherry Cobbler to 4-1/4" x 11".  Score it on your Simply Scored at 3", 5-1/2", and 8".  The Simply Scored is great if you are mass producing like I did.  Use the markers and you can just fly through them!

Accordion fold the card stock on the score lines.  Sticky Strip the middle section on 3 sides.  Do Not put Sticky Strip on the fold side.

It will look like this when glued together.

Using the Word Window Punch, punch across the middle fold.

Punch a tab using the 1-1/4" Circle Punch in the middle.

So when you are done it will look like this inside.

Create a belly band to keep the gift card from falling out.  The belly band will be 1-1/2" x 7"
Decorate and you are done!

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - No Peeking
Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Gumball Green, Be of Good Cheer DS
Ink - Early Espresso
Accessories - 3/8" Stitched Gumball Green Ribbon, Simply Scored, Sticky Strip, Word Window Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Wide Oval Punch

Its Christmas Time To Me!

I know it is not even Halloween yet but I am in full swing of Christmas!  From this point forward, my blog will be all Christmas!  From Christmas cards to wrapping and gifts to decor!  I just love this time of year, and when you are a crafter you need all the time you can get to accomplish the projects you dream up!  It is this time of year that I desperately wish I could do my crafting full time.  I ALWAYS have more ideas and inspiration than I have time for!

This card came from an inspiration.  I fell in love with it and knew I had to do it.  Sadly, it was months ago that I created this and I can not find my reference card anywhere to give credit!  This card is SO simple, I am sure you will LOVE it too!
  1. Emboss the Whisper White and layered it onto Gumball Green card base.
  2. Punch out five ornaments from Be of Good Cheer DS.
  3. Stamp one ornament on Whisper White and punch it out.
  4. Adhere the first layer of ornaments flat.  Attach the second layer with two dimensionals right down the center of the ornament and bend up the sides (see the second picture).
  5. Lay down a strip of Sticky Strip along the side of the card.  Bunch the ribbon as you adhere it to the Sticky Strip.
  6. Add a few pearls for some bling!

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Delightful Decorations
Card Stock - Gumball Green, Whisper White, Be of Good Cheer DS
Ink - Cherry Cobbler
Accessories - Big Shot, Ornament Punch, Northern Flurries Embossing Folder, Cherry Cobbler Scallop Polka Dots Ribbon, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Basic Pearls
