Convention 2013 - Scrapbook Page Swap 2

For this group I had December.  Again, I designed this layout in My Digital Studio first and then assembled it from actual cardstock, stamps, and accessories.  It made it so much easier to move things around, change colors, and arrange the layout digitally before doing all the cutting and stamping for real.  For the decorative edges, I scored the paper using the Simply Scored and the Borders Plate, then cut the design out by hand.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Ornamental Keepsakes, More Merry Messages
Card Stock - Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, Polka Dot DS
Ink - Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, StazOn Black
Accessories - Big Shot, Top Note Die, Holiday Ornaments Framelits, 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon, Glue Dots, Brights Glimmer Brads, Paper Piercer, Simply Scored, Simply Scored Borders Plate

Convention 2013 - Scrapbook Page Swap 1

For my Scrapbook Swap I am in two different groups.  In each group there is someone assigned to each month so at the end of the swap everyone had a two page spread for each month of the year.  For this group I had November.  I actually designed both of my page spreads in My Digital Studio (MDS) and then assembled them with actual paper and product.  MDS is a great tool for planning and layouts, not just digitally scrapbooking.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Woodgrain
Card Stock - So Saffron, Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke
Ink - So Saffron
Accessories - Big Shot, Bigz Alphabet Typeset, Bigz Autumn Accents, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Simply Scored, Simply Scored Borders Plate

Convention 2013 - Simply Pressed Clay Swap

I got the inspiration for this card from Amy K.  I think the card is just gorgeous and a great display of the 5 new In Colors!

First I created all the flowers.

I then dyed them with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with alcohol and re-inker.  Some of the flowers only took two coats but the lighter colors took a couple more.  The dried pretty quickly.

When I stamped the flowers,  I first laid out a scrap of paper so to leave a void for my words.  I decided against using a label punch because there were so many layers already.

Here is a close up of the flowers after they are finished and on the card.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Serene Silhouettes , Loving Thoughts
Card Stock - Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White
Ink - Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush
Accessories - Big Shot, Top Note Die, Simply Pressed Clay, Simply Pressed Clay Molds, Stampin' Spritzer, Boho Blossoms Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Glue Dots, Sticky Strip

Convention 2013 - Vintage Swap

I have been super into vintage cards lately so I can't wait for this swap!  I also had a lot of fun creating this card.  The vintage look was achieved by Crumb Cake Sponging the entire surface and Early Espresso Sponge Daubering the edges (yes I Daubering like its a word *smile*).

I made the tag myself.  Cut your paper at 2-1/2" x 3-1/4".  Then using the Simply Scored and the Diagonal Plate, Score at 1-5/8" on the short side and 2-3/8" on the long side.  Then I cut along the score lines.

The button is made from Simply Pressed Clay and then dyed Early Espresso by spraying it with a Spritzer filled with alcohol and Re-inker.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - The Open Seas, En Francais, Clockworks, Creative Elements
Card Stock - Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink - Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Accessories - Simple Scored, Diagonal Plate, Simply Pressed Clay, Simply Pressed Clay Molds, Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Sponge Dauber, Sponge, 3/4" Circle Punch, Glue Dots, Sticky Strip,

Two-Step Stamping Flowers

When my Raining Flowers retired, I knew I needed a two-step replacement.  I fell in love with Too Kind as soon as I saw it!  Plus the set comes with stems and I always seem to be looking for that.

What is two-step stamping you ask?  It is where you use one stamp to stamp one color and then another stamp that is slightly different to stamp a second color on top.  Like the flowers in my card.  Two-step stamping can be the flower on one stamp and the stem on another stamp also shown in my card.  Basically, you don't have to color a stamp with markers; you use different stamps to achieve the same look.

My card for this post came from page 55 in the new 2013-2014 Catalog.  I used the layout and colors to design my card using my new set.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Too Kind
Card Stock - Soft Sky, Whisper White
Ink - Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz

Monochromatic Mosaic Madness

Okay, I'll be honest, I can not remember where I got the idea for this card.  I have been looking all over for it but cant find it.  Sorry.

I LOVE the simplicity of this card.  You can do this in any color and it is gender neutral!  The stamp on the bottom was inked once and stamped 3 times.  Enjoy!

I was talking to some customers and they thought the card could using something on top, so we created this.  Which do you like better?

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Mosaic Madness, Label Love
Card Stock - Whisper White, Bermuda Bay
Ink - Bermuda Bay

All Occasions Card Swap - Birthday

Prior to convention, I signed up for several organized swaps.  This card is for an All Occasions Swap which just means that your card could be for any occasion.
As I have been playing with the new In Colors, Wisteria Wonder has quickly become my favorite color.  Paired up with Elegant Eggplant it is to die for!  This card also features a favorite technique of mine, Emboss Resist with Embossing Folders and the Big Shot.

First you have to create your resist image.  I used Stampin' Up's Original Die, 3" Circle.  I used this die to cut a circle in chip board.

Once you have your image that you want resisted cut out, lay the Embossing Folder over the chip board to position where you want it.  Draw marks around the corners so you remember where it goes then remove it and put down removable two sided tape.

Position the Embossing Folder back to where you want it using the marks you drew.

Insert your paper inside the Embossing Folder.

The Big Shot should be set up so that you are on Tab 2.

Then place the chip board and Embossing Folder and finally a Cutting Board.  (So you will only use one Cutting Board).

When taping down an embossed image, it is best to put tape on the regular cardstock and then adhere the embossed image.  This will keep the pressure from flattening the embossing.

Supplies:
Stamp Set(s) - Aviary, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock - Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White
Ink - Wisteria Wonder, Early Espresso
Accessories - Rhinestones, 3" Circle Die, Big Shot, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, Lattice Lace Embossing Folder
